Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American actor and musician who began her career with innovative raps which addressed the issues of sexuality and race with a the most comical of perspectives. Her career then grew to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first musical experience. She was a trumpet player. After a classical and jazz education her interest in hip-hop grew when she was an teen. While in college, she focused on her studies, and then took up a degree in women's studies as well as journalism. In a short period of time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also offered. She didn't start focusing on music until she finished her studies. The song My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity via the Internet in the year 2012. It eventually made it on her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. The album also featured viral hits like the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC Bitche$1. The final track was closely linked to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide published in 2015. Alongside being a published author and a singer, she was also a professional as a performer. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors and Storks. Her breakout roles included Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
